Acne Scarring

Even after acne disappears, blemishes can leave behind scars on the skin at the site of the inflammation. Acne scars can be wide and shallow or narrow and deep. On darker skin tones the scars may appear darker in color, while lighter skin tones may show redness within the scar. Acne scarring can be treated through chemical peels or laser skin resurfacing to encourage the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Injectable fillers may also help improve the appearance of deep acne scars by boosting the production of collagen and adding volume to sunken areas.
