Varicose and Spider Veins
When blood does not flow properly and begins to pool up inside veins, it can create a swollen or twisted vein visible beneath the surface of the skin. This area often appears red, blue, or purple from the veins pressed against the surface. Both varicose veins and spider veins can cause this condition, and both can be treated. Varicose veins are typically larger and raised in appearance while spider veins typically lie flat and cause visible lines beneath the skin. Laser treatments can reduce the appearance of most spider veins and some varicose veins depending on the severity of the problem and the size of the veins.
